Instructions
The POP-Q ruler is used by a trained healthcare professional during a vaginal examination.
In brief:
The patient is positioned appropriately (usually lithotomy or semi-recumbent).
The clinician identifies specific anatomical landmarks within the vagina.
Measurements are taken in centimetres relative to the hymenal ring.
Points such as Aa, Ba, C, D, Ap and Bp are measured.
Total vaginal length (TVL), genital hiatus (GH) and perineal body (PB) may also be recorded.
The measurements are documented to determine prolapse stage (Stage 0–IV).
The ruler ensures consistent, reproducible measurements for clinical records and treatment planning.
