How to use
Cleanse the area with soap and water and use the alcohol wipe to prepare the skin, then allow it to dry fully. Apply the patch smoothly over the healed, closed scar, avoiding stretching. Leave in place - showers are fine - and replace after around a week, or sooner if adhesion weakens.

Silicone therapy has been used in clinical scar management since the early 1980s. It works by keeping the scar hydrated and shielded from UV, friction and sweat - creating conditions that support flatter, softer, less red scarring over time. It won't remove a scar or fill acne indentations, but it's the most consistently recommended non-invasive first step in scar care.

When can I start using Improscar on a scar?
The scar needs to be fully healed before you start - no scabbing, open areas or broken skin. Depending on the type of surgery or scar, this can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, and it's important to wait until healing is complete rather than starting by a fixed date. If you're not sure whether your scar has healed enough, check with the clinician who treated you before starting.
Can I shower and exercise with the products on?
Improscar Patch and both Improscar Sticks are water-resistant and can be worn in the shower. If you have a very high-sweat routine, the stick range is generally more comfortable than the patch, which can cause heat rash under heavy, prolonged sweating.
How long should I use it for?
Scar maturation typically takes around 12 weeks, and consistent daily use over that period gives silicone therapy the best chance to work. Research suggests that continuing for longer - even up to around 8 months - can bring further benefit for scars that remain raised, red or itchy.
Do I need the SPF version?
New scars don't have the natural pigment protection that the surrounding skin does, which leaves them far more vulnerable to UV damage and discolouration. If the scar is on your face or anywhere regularly exposed to daylight, Improscar Stick 50 combines silicone therapy with SPF 50 sun protection in one step. For scars usually covered by clothing, the standard Improscar Stick is enough.
