Find a MAPLe pelvic floor practitioner in the UK
If you're struggling with leaking, prolapse, postnatal weakness or pelvic floor pain, MAPLe offers something most standard physio doesn't — a precise, individual map of how your pelvic floor muscles are actually working.
What is MAPLe?
MAPLe (Multiple Array Probe for Levator ani) is an advanced assessment and biofeedback tool used by specialist pelvic health professionals. It measures the activity of multiple muscles in your pelvic floor at once and displays the results on screen in real time.
For your therapist, that means a clear picture of which muscles are weak, tight or imbalanced — and where the problems sit. For you, it means seeing your own muscle activity as it happens, so you can learn how to engage the right muscles properly. For many women, this is the moment things finally click after years of unsuccessful pelvic floor exercises.
The result is a treatment plan built around your specific pelvic floor, rather than a generic set of exercises.
Who can MAPLe help?
MAPLe is particularly helpful for:
- Stress incontinence — leaking when you laugh, cough or exercise
- Pelvic organ prolapse — heaviness, dragging, or a "something coming down" sensation
- Postnatal recovery, especially if standard physio hasn't fully resolved things
- Hypertonic (overactive) pelvic floor — pain, tightness or difficulty relaxing
- Pre- or post-surgery rehab — preparing or rebuilding the pelvic floor
- Pelvic pain - including coccyx pain and endometriosis
- Pain During sex - which can be linked to a hypertonic (overactive) pelvic floor or post-childbirth changes
- Birth Trauma Injury - OASI tears, episiotomy tears and post child birth symptoms
It's also worth considering if you've been told to "do your pelvic floor exercises" but aren't sure you're doing them right, or you've been doing them for months with no real progress. MAPLe takes the guesswork out.
